To hit /tʊ hɪt/ significa principalmente “golpear”, “pegar” o “dar en algo”.
- Hit someone or something — golpear o pegarle a alguien o algo.
- The car hit the wall. — “El auto chocó contra la pared.”
- Hit the ball — golpear la pelota.
- She hit the ball hard.
- He hit the target. — “Él dio en el blanco.”
Cuando mencionamos a la persona que recibe el golpe, usamos hit + persona, sin to: hit him, hit her y hit me. No decimos "hit to him".
Para mencionar la parte del cuerpo, son comunes las estructuras hit someone on the... y hit someone in the...:
- She hit him on the arm — “Ella le pegó en el brazo”.
- The ball hit me in the face — “La pelota me dio en la cara”.
- Our team beat their team — “Nuestro equipo derrotó a su equipo”.
