  • Deny something — negar algo.
    • She denied the accusation. — “Ella negó la acusación.”
  • Deny doing something — negar haber hecho algo.
    • He denied stealing the money. — “Él negó haber robado el dinero.”
  • Deny that + oración — negar que algo sea verdad.
    • She denied that she knew him. — “Ella negó que lo conocía.”
  • Deny someone something — negarle algo a alguien.
    • They denied us access.

Para decir "negar haber hecho algo", no usamos deny + to + verbo. Por ejemplo, decimos "He denied breaking the window", no "He denied to break the window".

Deny y refuse no significan exactamente lo mismo. Deny se usa normalmente para decir que algo no es verdad o para no conceder algo: "She denied the accusation" y "They denied him entry". Refuse se usa para rechazar algo o negarse a hacer algo: "She refused the offer" y "He refused to answer".
